Leeza's Lightheaded

It was a new Leeza Gibbons who stepped off the airplane in Dallas
on Thursday night. The former Dallas TV personality and current
host of the national show Extra was traveling with one of L.A.’s
top hairstylists, Dean Banowetz. Before flying,
Dean chopped six inches off Leeza’s blond locks.
"I feel younger and lighter," says Leeza. "Dean
is the Hollywood hair guy." You’ll get no argument from
Dean’s Dallas brother, Leon Banowetz, who
is the Dallas ad guy. Leon and his wife, Molly,
own the Banowetz & Co. ad agency.
Leeza will be in Texas just long enough to say "Hi" and
"Bye" before she jets back to California for the top priority
in her life, her children.
On Friday, she is meeting with folks at KXAS-TV (Channel 5) who
have sagely given her show a new 6:30 p.m. time slot.
On a more serious note, Leeza’s mother, Jean Gibbons,
is in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s disease. So, also on
Friday, Leeza will speak at the Fort Worth Alzheimer’s Association
Gala. Then she’ll jet back to L.A. so that on Saturday, she
can drive into the mountains to pick up her kids at camp.
"I just miss them so much," she says. "I haven’t
seen them in three weeks. I am going to be the first parent at the
gate to see my kids."
